Elsa Sullivan Lanchester, was born October 28, 1902, and went on to become a very accomplished and successful actress of theatre, film and television. Her most popular and endearing character, The Bride Of Frankenstein, will live on forever in film and horror history, with the iconic image of the Bride with her hair standing on end and the white stripe on the sides, as well as the woman who created her, Mary Shelley (also portrayed by Elsa in the same film.). Elsa had a very long and diverse film career, starring in over 66 films. Elsa passed away on December 26, 1986 of pneumonia at the age of 84. Happy Birthday to the original Bride!

The car...renowned STUTZ BEARCAT... the status sports car of long ago. "THE CAR THAT MADE GOOD IN ONE DAY", was the title given to Harry C. Stutz in 1911 as he placed 11th in the Indy 500. The Stutz Bearcat is about to once again growl down the straights and scream around the curves of America's roads.

The climax to a life-long dream of custom-automobile
builder, Howard D. Williams of Oklahoma is about to happen. Howard Williams first developed a reproduction of the 1914 Stutz Bearcat automobile while he was President of the Cord International Distributing in the 1960's. The idea for the following event took root prior to the finish of the first prototype which appeared in the Nieman Marcus Christmas catalog for "The Man Who Has Everything". The development of the car started in 1967. A special type of road rally race using these and other antique automobiles was first proposed along with the introduction of the Stutz After Shave and Cologne at the same time, along with a race poster, T-shirt and other accessory items. These were all complimentary products to help promote the introduction of the car.

NEW YORK — Artist Louise Bourgeois, whose sculptures exploring women's deepest feelings on birth, sexuality and death were highly influential on younger artists, died Monday, her studio's managing director said. She was 98.

Bourgeois had continued creating artwork – her latest pieces were finished just last week – before suffering a heart attack Saturday night, said the studio director, Wendy Williams. The artist died at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan, where she lived.

Working in a wide variety of materials, she tackled themes relating to male and female bodies and emotions of anger, betrayal, even murder. Her work reflected influences of surrealism, primitivism and the early modernist sculptors such as Alberto Giacometti and Constantin Brancusi.

Early life
Hopper was born in Dodge City, Kansas, the son of Marjorie Mae (née Davis) and Jay Millard Hopper. After the end of World War II, the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where the young Hopper attended Saturday art classes at the Kansas City Art Institute taught by Thomas Hart Benton. At the age of 13, Hopper and his family moved to San Diego, where his mother worked as a lifeguard instructor and his father was a post office manager (Hopper has acknowledged, though, that his father was in the OSS, the precursor to the CIA). Hopper was educated at Wooster School, Danbury, Connecticut and was voted most likely to succeed by his high school class (Helix High School, La Mesa, California, a suburb of San Diego). It was there he developed an interest in acting, studying at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, California and the Actors Studio in New York City (studied with Lee Strasberg for five years). Hopper struck up a friendship with actor Vincent Price, whose passion for art influenced Hopper's interest in art. He was especially fond of the plays of William Shakespeare.

known as Dave Brubeck, is an American jazz pianist.

Brubeck was born in Concord, California. His father was a cattle rancher, and his mother, who had studied piano in England and intended to become a concert pianist, taught piano for extra money. Brubeck originally did not intend to become a musician (his two older brothers, Henry and Howard, were already on that track), but took lessons from his mother. He could not read sheet music during these early lessons, attributing this difficulty to poor eyesight, but "faked" his way through, well enough that this deficiency went mostly unnoticed.

Calloway was a master of energetic scat singing and led one of the United States' most popular African American big bands from the start of the 1930s through the late 1940s. Calloway's band featured performers including trumpeters Dizzy Gillespie and Adolphus "Doc" Cheatham, saxophonists Ben Webster and Leon "Chu" Berry, New Orleans guitar ace Danny Barker, and bassist Milt Hinton. Calloway continued to perform until his death in 1994 at the age of 86.

The Nicholas Brothers were a famous African-American team of dancing brothers, Fayard (1914–2006) and Harold Nicholas (1921–2000). With their highly acrobatic technique ("flash dancing"), high level of artistry and daring innovations, they were considered by many the greatest tap dancers of their day. Growing up surrounded by Vaudeville acts as children, they became stars of the jazz circuit during the heyday of the Harlem Renaissance and went on to have successful careers performing on stage, film, and television well into the 1990's.

Tarzan is a fictional character, an archetypal feral child raised in the African jungle by apes, who later returns to civilization only to largely reject it and return to the wild as a heroic adventurer. Created by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Tarzan first appeared in the novel Tarzan of the Apes (magazine publication 1912, book publication 1914), and then in twenty-three sequels and innumerable works in other media, authorized or not.Film The Internet Movie Database lists 89 movies with Tarzan in the title between 1918 and 2008. The first Tarzan movies were silent pictures adapted from the original Tarzan novels which appeared within a few years of the character's creation. "Making of" featurettes are usually a desirable if superfluous DVD extra, but Faces is one case in which learning how a movie was made actively changes the experience of watching it. A 2004 documentary included on a second disc, Making Faces, has lengthy and thoughtful interviews with nearly every key player whom you'd want to hear from (with the exception of Cassavetes himself, who died in 1989 at the age of 59). As Gena Rowlands, Cassavetes' wife and longtime collaborator, puts it in an extensive interview: "[We] gave independent filmmaking a new name." With no budget and an unpaid group of friends who doubled as actors, grips, cameramen, and set painters, Cassavetes shot the movie at his own house over a period of six months in 1965 and proceeded to edit and postproduce it for the next three years, stopping when he ran out of money, then borrowing or begging more and starting again. (It was finally released in 1968, the same year Cassavetes played Mia Farrow's secretly Satanist husband in Rosemary's Baby.) Rowlands also discusses the fact that both she and Lynn Carlin were in the early stages of pregnancy at the time of filming—a detail that makes their emotionally and physically draining performances all the more extraordinary.
